The 2020 Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman T will hit dealerships in summer 2020.

Porsche is adding 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman T models in 2020 for those who want slightly tighter, slightly more expensive versions of the sub-911 nameplates. Like the 911 T before it, the Boxster and Cayman cousins get a few extra options and a lower ride height than their standard counterparts. They’re both available to order now and both head to dealerships next summer.
First on the upgrade list: the PASM Sport Suspension. Porsche Active Suspension Management brings both shorter springs, lowering the vehicle almost an inch, and retuned adaptive dampers. PTV, Porsche Torque Vectoring, normally optional, is standard here. PTV uses the mechanical limited-slip differential and brakes to vary the amount of torque sent side to side. From Porsche “when a car is driven assertively into a corner, moderate brake pressure is applied to the inside rear wheel.” That sends more force outside, which adds a little yaw — rotation — around a corner.
The Ts also come with 20-inch 911 Carrera S wheels in a special finish. The exterior mirror covers are also done in gray, as are the roll hoops on the Boxster T. The standard sport exhaust is finished in gloss black.

The Boxster/Cayman 718 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer four makes 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual is standard but PDK (dual-clutch transmission) buyers will get a 4.5-second sprint to 60 mph with launch control. Expect to lose a tick or so when rowing your own. Top speed is 170 mph.
Inside, the Boxster and Cayman T get special accents, sport seats with bigger bolsters, fabric loops instead of interior door handles and stitched headrests. Full bucket seats or 18-way adaptive seats are optional. T models also get a Porsche GT Sport steering wheel and Sport Chrono Package. The optional T Interior Package adds contrasting stitching.
The 2020 718 Boxster T and Cayman T are available to order now for $69,850 and $67,750 including delivery, respectively. Both prices are about ten grand over the base cars.
