We spy big haunches and a sporty fastback on this concept SUV.

Hyundai is teasing a new plug-in hybrid concept SUV set to roll out next week at the LA Auto Show’s preview week, AutoMobility LA. From what we can tell it looks low and swoopy, and we’re just thankful the company didn’t call it a coupe.
This new SUV is a concept, which means it will be described with flowery language using terms like Parametric Fantasy and Transcendent Connectivity. “In these sub-themes, all parametric surfaces are connected from the body to either light or trim features. It features seamless connectivity free from distinct design boundaries,” according to Hyundai.

Basically, there are a bunch of convex and concave lines and surfaces that catch light at different angles. The multi-triangle grille features a new light signature, but each piece moves at speed to “adjust both aerodynamics and design.” When stationary, the grille stays shut. It also controls air to the hybrid powertrain.
From the silhouette, we’re seeing a little Acura RDX, a little Range Rover Evoque and maybe even a bit of Hyundai styling. It looks to have pronounced haunches and a fastback style rear end. It doesn’t look big, which means the Kona powertrain could be a likely fit; alternatively, it could have something more concept-y under the hood.

Hyundai’s concept has a potentially toothy grille.
